A gun to your kids head is something a mother should never have to experience

A home invasion was the last thing on my mind the night of January 11th. We had just finished eating dinner around 8 p.m. I was laying upstairs in my bedroom talking on the phone while my eleven and four year old played games on my computer a few feet away from me. Outside my bedroom was the game room in which we'd turned into a bedroom for my stepson. My oldest daughter Jada's room was next to mine. Talking on my phone I never heard the loud thump my step son and daughter heard. Both rushed downstairs to see where the loud noise came from. Before they could even make it all the way downstairs, they were met by six guys, dressed in black with guns. From my room I could hear my daughter get loud but wrote it off as if she and my step son were just horse playing. That is until the gunmen kicked in my room door with my daughter in one arm and the gun pointed at me with the other arm as he yelled "Bitch where the money at?"..I was stunned..for a second I even thought it was a joke until the other guys rushed in and immediately approached my other kids. One of them grabbed my four year by the arm before placing a gun to her head and yelling "Bitch where the money at, you think it's a game?" He then began to count off "Five, Four, Three...I quickly jumped out of bed and threw my body onto my child's begging them not to hurt my children. The whole time this is going on, my sister whom I was initially talking on the phone to was listening to everything an quickly called to police from another phone sending them to my house. The guys were actually boys, no older than twenty-one. None of them wore mask nor gloves so that too told me they were young and desperate for money. They made me and my kids lay on the floor while they tore my house up searching for valuables. The whole time we were on the floor, I prayed one prayer. "The blood of Jesus, The blood of Jesus" ...I said it out loud, not for them to hear but because that's all that could come out my mouth as I wondered if they were going to take my life and if so would they let my babies live. My thoughts were soon interrupted when my eleven year old snugged my shirt and whispered "Momma can I give them the ten dollars I saved?" I told her no and just be still and quiet, everything would be okay. That broke my heart .I've always been able to protect them yet at that moment I've never felt more weak. I continued to pray quietly. I don't know exactly how long we were on the floor when suddenly, I didn't hear them anymore. I opened my eyes and began to look around. I called out for my step son asking if he was ok. He said yes. He came into the room with a look of dismay. I crept over to the window. Relief came over me when I saw the flashing lights. The police had come. I pulled my blinds all the way up and I use my hands to signal for help. Not wanting to waste time, I opened the window and told them I believed the intruders were gone.....We were safe..I am blessed that me, my children and my stepson made it out of the invasion untouched and alive. I thought about Deuteronomy 28:7 The LORD will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven. I smiled inside and realized then my father in heaven had been with us all along. :)

Being Violated by Someone you Trust

When I was twelve years old my uncle molested me. It was right after my parents died. At the time I was living with my grandmother who tried her best to take my mind off losing my parents. Little did she know her son, my uncle was stealing my innocence. The incidents confused me deeply. I couldn't understand why someone who shared the same blood as me wanted to touch me in such a dirty way. Yet the real effects came as I grew older. I'm less affectionate with my children when it come to touching.
